Gaetano Armato Barone

Growing up in Santa Margherita di Belice, Sicily, Filippo Armato Barone’s fondest memories came from working with his Father Gaetano Armato Barone.

At only 10 years old, Filippo used to go from town to town selling fruit and vegetables. From early age Filippo experienced the satisfaction of hard work and its rewards, he knew that he wanted to pursue his dream of having his own business. His opportunity came mixed with tragedy when his beloved town was destroyed by the 1968 earthquake.

The following year, the Barone Family moved to Brooklyn. He worked hard but owning his own business was always in the back of his mind and was his driving force. his dream of having his own business was always present.

Between 1974 & 1975 he met and married his lovely wife Paula. His family grew with his first born Gaetano, then Luigi and Filippo Jr

Along with Filippo's younger brother, Ignazio, they thrived after opening their first store in Brooklyn.

Today, Filippo runs a successful Food Market in Ridgewood, Queens having his dream fully achieved with the full support of his sons, Gaetano and Filippo

Filippo has shown gratitude to America and those people that helped him along the way by giving back to his community in New York and Italy.

Filippo’s success came from enjoying his work, his faith in God, and his unconditional love of family. His greatest satisfaction is spending time with his beautiful grandchildren, and of course taking a ride on his beloved truck honoring Padre Pio.

Padre Pio Mural

Padre Pio was, and remains, a sign to all the world, the answer to all those who say, "Lord, give me a sign, that I may believe". He represented a point of contact with Eternity in his life. He was a man of God, a prophet, a wonderworker, a Saint.

As a way of honoring Padre Pio, Filippo A. Barone had a special mural painted on the Valentino food delivery truck. Customers and neighbors readily recognize the truck as the one and only that belongs to Filippo A. Barone.

Filippo A. Barone enjoys riding the Valentino food delivery truck with a beautiful mural of Padre Pio painted on driver's side.
